EAGLES (3-8) AT COWBOYS (5-6)
By Football Night in America’s Eliott Kalb
- A Cowboys win would snap an eight-game Sunday nnight losing streak.
- The Eagles last win came on September 30. It pushed their record to 3-1.
- The last time these two clubs met, Dallas headed to Philadelphia just three weeks ago and emerged as the 38-23 victor. Dallas scored touchdowns via offense, defense and special teams.
- In his first start since his senior season at Wichita East High School, RB Bryce Brown rushed for an Eagles rookie record 178 yards, the tenth-highest single-game total in franchise history.
- P Mat McBriar played for the Cowboys from 2004-11 and was a two-time Pro Bowler in 2006 and 2010.
- The Cowboys have recently had the bad fortune of both their starting and backup center being injured. With Phil Costa and Ryan Cook hurt, the Cowboys were forced to move Mackenzy Bernadeau from guard over to center for the past two games. However, Cook who has been recovering from a knee injury, is looking like he may be available for Sunday night’s game against Philadelphia.
- Tony Romo is currently tied with Troy Aikman with 165 touchdown passes for the most in franchise history. He’s got 16 this year over 11 games, so it’s likely he will get at least one Sunday night against the Eagles.
- This Eagles team certainly has a lot of major issues, a lot of glaring weaknesses. The offensive line is banged up and sputtering along, the defensive line is underachieving, the receivers are struggling, the linebackers have regressed, the quarterbacks haven’t done anything special for weeks. But nothing has been as embarrassing, as pitiful, as hopeless as the play of the Eagles’ secondary. They have simply stopped playing. They have simply stopped covering people. Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are both former Pro Bowl corners. Nate Allen is a second-round pick who had an auspicious rookie year before he got hurt. Five weeks in a row now, a quarterback has done this against the Eagles: Complete at least 64 percent of his passes, throw two or more touchdowns, throw zero interceptions and pass for 200 yards.
- Meanwhile, Dallas can’t run the ball. They average only 78 rush yards per game, worst in the NFL.
- Coordinator Roy Ryan has the Cowboys’ defense ranked eighth overall in the NFL, allowing an average of 328.8 yards per game
