By Football Night in America’s Eliott Kalb

  • The Ravens have won three in a row.
  • Ed Reed said that he was grateful that his one-game suspension for repeated violations of the rule prohibiting hits to the head and neck area of defenseless players was lifted Tuesday after his appeal.
  • During a 34-14 loss last season in San Diego, Flacco was intercepted twice and sacked seven times
  • The Ravens had no answer last season for Chargers outside linebacker Antwan Barnes. A fourth-round pick by Baltimore in 2007, Barnes sacked Flacco four times in 2011.
  • Three Chargers have a little bit extra on the line when they go up against the Ravens on Sunday. Jarret Johnson, LeRon McClain and Chris Carr all spent extensive time playing in Baltimore before becoming a Charger. As a result, they each admit this week’s game is more meaningful than most on a personal level.
  • Sunday will be Alumni Day at Qualcomm Stadium and punter Darren Bennett, named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 90s, will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame at halftime. He will be introduced by former long snapper David Binn.
  • Jacoby Joneshas been electrifying this season. Jones leads the NFL with a 37.4 KOR average and has posted three combined kick return TDs (2 KOR and 1 PR), all of which have come in the last five games.
  • The Ravens rank fourth in the NFL in opponent average starting position after a KO (20.3-yard line) and are third in average starting position after a KO (25.5-yard line).
  • Baltimore has played great red zone defense.  0 is the number of Red zone TDs allowed by the Ravens in their last three games, keeping opponents from scoring a TD on nine-consecutive red zone drives.
  • The Ravens’ turnover ratio (21 take-aways & 9 give-aways), the NFL’s second-best mark (tied with Chi.). Baltimore’s 9 give-aways tie (GB, SF & Was.) for the NFL’s second fewest (NE is first with 7).
  • 9-1 is the Ravens’ overall record (including playoffs) vs. the AFC West under coach Harbaugh. Baltimore’s only defeat came at San Diego (34-14) on Dec. 18 last season.
  • Danario(duh-NAIR-ee-oh) Alexander, a third-year player whom the Chargers just signed as a free agent on Oct. 22, has lit a fire in the Chargers’ offense as he’s racked up 15 catches, 291 yards and three touchdowns in the last three games with the Bolts.
  • Philip Rivers(26,787 career passing yards) needs just 192 more to move past John Hadl(26,938) for second in team history.
  • Chargers all banged up after last Sunday: Left guard Tyronne Green, wide receiver Eddie Royal and outside linebacker Larry English all exited in the first half. Green injured his hamstring while attempting to tackle Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard, who was returning a Rivers interception early in the second quarter. Veteran Rex Hadnot played the game’s final 54 offensive snaps in his first action of the season. The 30-year-old is the team’s most experienced backup with 93 career starts. He will likely start for Green against the Ravens.
  • Antonio Gates (80 career touchdown catches), needs one more to tie Lance Alworth’s team record of 81.
  • QB Joe Flacco is 16-5 (.762) in November, tied for 4th-best record among QBs in Super Bowl era. Flacco will make 75th career start.
